I see a big problem with this. I for example compile all my kernels on
one box. And some of my box's are strapped enuf for both disk space, and
memory as it is. I don't want .config or my kernel taking up anymore
resources then is absolutely necessary. If distributions want to have
people know what are in their default kernels, keep them in a text file on
the cdrom, then put the one that is used in /usr/src/linux as .config I
KNOW what I need on my box's so even if I lose a .config file for on of
my box's all I use is a min or so to rerun make config.

Heck if you are worried about new users have the distrobutions make thier
kernel the default in arch/<insert platform>/defconfig
