2.1.22/23 won't boot

I compiled both 2.1.22 and 2.1.23 with the same config settings as I have
been using for 2.1.21 (and 2.1.20, etc.). SMP in all cases.

2.1.21 runs fine, but when I try booting 2.1.22 or 2.1.23, the boot process
reaches the point where it is suppose to uncompress, it instead prints a
message that I have less than 4 Megabytes, and then the system halts.

* I am running on a dual Pentium Tyan Tomcat III with 64 Megabytes.
* I have tried the "mem=" option with no effect.

Where did I go wrong?
