new SMP diff up for grabs...

I've made a new diff against stock 2.1.22, so this patch doesn't go on
top of my previous SMP test snapshots, just apply it to stock 2.1.22.

I made a feeble attempt to fix some of the slowness problems people
have reported, those who have seen slowdowns and reported them to me
please try your benchmarks again with this test kernel and get back to
me, thanks.

And as usual, success/failure reports are extremely appreciated. If I
haven't gotten your machine to work yet, don't worry I'll get it.
