ATAPI CDROM detection problem in kernel 2.1.21

When booting kernel 2.1.21 I received the following message
hdc = ATAPI unknown (type 31) drive
My cdrom is that Creative Labs 4x IDE (Mitsumi), it's plugged to the second IDE port (0x170, irq 15) as master.
Putting append="hdc=cdrom" in lilo.conf resolved the problem.
Now I get
hdc = FX400_02, ATAPI CDROM DRIVE

Do somebody else got the same problem?
