If kernel output was a seperate thread, you could have that thread pipe it's
stuff through a filter - that way people could find or make their own lex files
(or whatever you use for this sort of thing) and maybe one or two of the more
popular ones (like Jibe, what it is, mama! ;) get into the kernel distribution.
