modutils970104 and kernels 2.1.7 to 2.1.20

I have a problem with the new modutils. When I try use those utils with
kernels from 2.1.7 to 2.1.20 I get an error about an old version of insmod
being used with a kernel 2.1.7+
I've had to go all the way back to to 2.1.3 since 2.1.21 oopses (as
described in my previous mail).
