Just on saturday I fetched Your's snapshoot version of the modutils from
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/alphabits/modutils-970103.tar.gz
I noticed severall prblems in them and one in the patch for linux-2.1.19
supplied with them. What I did yerstoday (Yes, really I worked ONE day on
it) is:
1. I fixed ALL the trivial compilation problems of the utils themself.
2. I did a COMPLEATE rewrite of the depmod program contained therein.
YES depmod IS IN PURE C NOW. AS IT SHOULD BE!
3. I composed a patch for linux-2.1.20 which fixes: the patch in Your
snapshoot, the ftape driver and the rebooting problem of the kernel
on the i386 (the reboting problem fix is 5 chars on the right place).
The point 2. make's it sensless to supply a patch
against the modutils-970103. Therefore please fetch the modified
version I did from:
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/Motified/modutils-970106.tar.gz
