Robert - I copied you on this as I read your posting on "Re: PPP Help"
in comp.os.linux.setup. Hope you don't mind, or better yet, might have
some insight into my problem.

I compiled and installed ppp-2.2.0f and followed the installed
instructions verbatim. Made my kernel (2.0.21) with CONFIG_PPP=y i.e.
note _NOT_ as a module!

On debug of the syslog I get....

Dec 26 17:16:23 machine1 modprobe: Can't locate module ppp0
Dec 26 17:16:23 machine1 pppd[95]: tcgetattr: I/O error

Why would syslog log "Can't locate module ppp0" when ppp is installed
in the kernel?

The /var/log/messages gives...

Dec 26 17:16:23 machine1 kernel: registered device ppp0
Dec 26 17:16:23 machine1 pppd[95]: pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0
Dec 26 17:16:23 machine1 pppd[95]: Exit.

Any useful or pertinent input would be much welcomed here.

Thanks,
