"Linksys" Ethernet card - bad NE2k clone

Hi!

I was wondering if there was anything I could do to get my bad ne2k
clone to work. Upon boot, I get the message

..... invalid signature (14 32)

and it gives up after that. Am I hopelessly lost? I tried hacking the
kernel to just continue after that, but it oops'd :-/

Linux 2.0.22 ....

card reads "LinkSys Ether 16 Lan Card", a 16bit isa card.
