lp/ppa Port Sharing Broken in 2.1.15+

The subject pretty much says it all.

I have an Iomega Zip drive, which I have been sharing with my parallel printer
by compiling both as modules.

I can then choose which module to load, and thereby use both devices, albeit
not at once.

That stopped in 2.1.15, and is still broken in 2.1.17.

I get the following message when I try to start the printer daemon:

> lpd[642]: /var/spool/lpd/lpd.lock: Invalid argument

And then it dies.

Reverting to 2.1.14 restores proper behavior.

This may be significant to somebody working on things out there, I hope.
