Sound card ide interface probing with STATUS instead of ALTSTATUS

Recently I bought a new hard disk. This meant that I had to move one
of my existing IDE drives so I moved the CD to the (previously unused)
IDE interface on my SB 16 and edited ide.c so that it probes for the
third interface.

Things _appear_ to work, however during boot up I get

hde: probing with STATUS instead of ALTSTATUS

Occasionally the message is repeated a couple of times

There's a comment in the source code about this being to do with old
Seagates. Should I be concerned about this or is it a "feature" of the
SoundBlaster IDE interface?
