This problem should be fixed in driver versions >= 0.29
cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov:/pub/linux/drivers/3c59x.c

This driver supports both the 3c59x "Vortex" series and the 3c90*
"Boomerang" series cards.

The next driver update will also support the 3c515 "Corkscrew" ISA cards.
