Interesting kerneld(?) messages

While doing a big dd to my DOS partition to create space for a loopback
device, I got the following:

omicron:/dosc/linux# dd if=/dev/zero of=dev.ext2fs bs=1024k count=512 seek=511
Ouch, no kerneld for message 2147418834
Ouch, no kerneld for message 2147418836
Ouch, no kerneld for message 2147418838
Ouch, no kerneld for message 2147418839
dd: dev.ext2fs: No such file or directory
161+0 records in
160+1 records out
omicron:/dosc/linux#

This drive had about 670MB free, as shown by the final filesize:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 704315392 Dec 8 08:34 dev.ext2fs*

I just realized what that dd command actually does (seek 511, then write
512 more), so try not to flame me on that... ;-)

But I'm curious what this all means: 'Ouch, no kerneld for message
2147418834'. What does kerneld have to do with dd'ing a big file? And is
the fact that dd couldn't find the file ('dd: dev.ext2fs: No such file or
directory') afterwards a sign of a (V)FAT bug? I've seen it once before,
while doing a similar big dd (127MB).

More info on demand, though I rebooted soon after to clear some other
strange stuff ('(route-request <zombie>)' x 8).

TTYAL,
Omega
