bidirectiional parallel port

I need t use my parallel port bidirectionally. I have found a patch in
tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/BETA/lp/bidir-lp.patch

but it's written for 1.2.13 and i couldn't apply this patch to my 2.0.0.
Can anyone help me about these problems ?
