VGER downtime, please readme

[ Perhaps this did not go out the first time, therefore I am trying
once more. ]

Sometime around friday afternoon or evening (this is tomorrow) vger
will be going down for some needed maintenance. The downtime will
last perhaps 1 day at the most.

Please be kind and do not try to send mails to the lists during this
downtime, and thank you for your cooperation.
