skput() panic & tracing the return address

i'm getting a periodic skput() panic that halts our server, it seems to
be unpredictable in nature.

i'm using 2.0.23.

at first i thought it was the 3590 we use, but i wrapped the single call
to (eventually) skput from that driver and it seems that it's not the
problem.

i'd appreciate some help:

what steps to i take to read the sysmap so that i can map the return
address provided by the panic call ?

[i found this information on the web somewhere, about 2 weeks ago (when
experiencing a different problem with 1.2.13, a socket error), but i
can't find my bookmark (!!!)....]

do any of you experienced linux problem tracers have some helpful hints
for a relative newbie ?

thanks,

m
