Hi,

I have a Computer (i486, IDE, MitsumiCD, WD8003 ethernet, 2 HD) with a
just 8MB RAM. I installed kernels 2.0.15, 2.0.17 and 2.0.18 and have
always a same problem: at the time when X starts I bekome a message
"Couldn't get a free page.....":

Sep 5 21:58:07 karli kernel: Adding Swap: 32720k swap-space
Sep 5 21:58:07 karli kernel: Adding Swap: 32756k swap-space
Sep 5 21:58:38 karli kernel: Couldn't get a free page.....
Sep 5 21:58:57 karli kernel: Couldn't get a free page.....
Sep 5 21:59:30 karli login: ROOT LOGIN ON tty1
Sep 5 22:00:39 karli login: 2 LOGIN FAILURES ON tty6, ljubo
Sep 5 22:02:53 karli kernel: Couldn't get a free page.....
Sep 5 22:03:37 karli kernel: Couldn't get a free page.....

The error message should not be caused by adding a swap space (31 sec
before errors). Howewer I have a feeling that error is caused by starting
of X server.

Output of the 'free':
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 7056 6796 260 3704 132 2372
-/+ buffers: 4292 2764
Swap: 65476 6056 59420

System seems to be stable, there is no crashs or hang ups.

I run a Red Hat distribution (3.0.3) with patches (RPM packages) for
2.0.x kernels:
NetKit-B-0.06-13.i386.rpm mt-st-0.4-1.i386.rpm
SysVinit-2.62-1.i386.rpm portmap-4.0-1.i386.rpm
hdparm-2.9-1.i386.rpm ppp-2.2.0f-1.i386.rpm
initscripts-2.52-1.i386.rpm procps-1.01-3.i386.rpm
ipfwadm-2.2-1.i386.rpm procps-X11-1.01-3.i386.rpm
modules-2.0.0-1.i386.rpm

Thanks,
