linux-2.0.9 does not compile without the CONFIG_BLK_DEV_CMD640 option !
in file drivers/block/ide.c line 2390:
the variable hd_status is defined inside the #ifdef CONFIG_BLK_DEV_CMD640,
it should be outside !
