Kernel Port, FAQ needed?

Here at Chalmers we are in the process of porting
Linux to the SimCS sparc V8 simulator.
This is a large project involving evaluating sheduling
algoritms on shared bus multiprocessor systems.

I would like to know what routines the kernel assumes, from the
architecture dependent code, to behave.

* Is there a document detailing porting, similar to the BSD one, available?

Of cource I could browse through the source, but I'd rather have spec's
if available.
