Error messages I don't understand (as usual)

I get these from a couple of machines running 1.99.12, both
p133's, buslogic scsi, micrapolis f/w drives, and smc 21041 based
etherpowers:

eth0: Ethernet frame spanned multiple buffers,status 7fffceff!
eth0: Ethernet frame spanned multiple buffers,status 062d81ae!
eth0: Ethernet frame spanned multiple buffers,status 7fffceff!
eth0: Ethernet frame spanned multiple buffers,status 060a81aa!

And they keep going...and going...and going...

It's happened before 1.99.12, and it happens on other machines,
so I'm just curious to know what exactly this is an indication of.
