The kernel code should be usable on almost all machines, usually as a
temporary solution until SVGATextMode will be available to handle the
machine's video card. I'm not capable of adding _all_ existing video
cards to STM. And on some older adapters (including most notebook display
controllers) the modes offered by the BIOS are the best available.
