[1.3.82] NFS problems continued

Both client and server are running 1.3.82. I was attempting to NFS
mount a series of disks at boot (the client does not have a /usr of
its own). The client side received the (now familiar) too small read
memory size message a number of times. The server (which had been up
for about 5 minutes, freshly rebooted after an unrelated crash)
received the following in syslog:
