Well, yesterday I've seem the same GPF. I think it has something
to do with APM bios. When I had kernel compiled w/ APM support
and in APM BIOS was on (486/80/VLB AMI BIOS), there was no problem.
When I turned off APM BIOS in BIOS setup, the GPF occured. After
recompiling kernel (1.3.66) without APM support, machine boots correctly.
Now I am on 1.3.68 w/o APM support, which also works well.

Do you have APM support compiled in?
