I have a problem with ext2 fs under 1.3.x kernels which won't show on 1.2
kernels.
When I run updatedb (come with find package), I got the following error
messages. I checked all the file systems immediately using e2fsck. No
errors are found.
Oct 19 23:12:27 proton linux: EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir:
directory #1861 contains a hole at offset 1024
Oct 19 23:12:27 proton linux: EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir:
directory #1861 contains a hole at offset 2048
Oct 19 23:12:27 proton linux: EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir:
directory #1861 contains a hole at offset 3072
Oct 19 23:12:27 proton linux: EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir:
directory #1861 contains a hole at offset 4096
Oct 19 23:12:28 proton linux: EXT2-fs error (device 03:02): ext2_readdir:
directory #1861 contains a hole at offset 5120
This morning I switch back to 1.2.13 and run updatedb again. No problem at
all. So, I think 1.3.x actually do better error checking. Then, my two q
uestions are:
1. Is there a newer e2fsck that will fix the problem?
2. which HD partition is (device 03:02)? I'd like to re-make that partition
if I cannot easily fix the problem.
Thanks a lot.
