I thing problem is following:
there is kernel bug-when you try to mount cdrom wothout cd disk inside(or=

other r/w error) the buffer cache keep in memory and every flush=20
displaying a lots of messages-you use syslog that stores all messages=20
into file,syncing produce new messages etc...
try tempoairy comment cdrom line in fstab=EF=FD=AD
