I have a Pentium PCI system with a adaptec 2740 SCSI host adapter.
The SCSI devices are :
1 1 GB disk
1 plexor 4x cdrom
1 hp dat tape
1 archive 150 MB tape
With kernel 1.2.11 and also kernel 1.3.5 ... 1.3.17 I have problems with
backups.
If I backup my SCSI disk (it's the root disk!) to one of the streamers (it
seems that the 150 MB streamer is a little more sensitive) it hangs my system
without any messages on the console.
I can switch between consoles, but cannot do anything else.
I can only hard reset the system :-( .
After linking the adm dir to a ide disk partition and disable swapping on
SCSI, I saw a message in /usr/adm/messages after reboot:

Termination and cabling are ok (It works fine with an AHA1542) .
