I've seen a few reports flying around about console lock-ups and the
like with 1.3.x kernels. I too have a problem.
I can't switch VC from the XF86_W32 (ET400W32 accelerated X server),
although everything is fine with the standard XF86_SVGA server.
I put this down to a problem with the X server, but seeing as how other
people are reporting problems it seems there might be something lurking
in the kernel. I can *sometimes* switch from the X server to another VC,
but never back again. When it hangs it hangs hard - not VCs, no keyboard.
Logging in from another machine and rebooting work fine though.
Tried this with XFree86 3.1.1 and 3.1.2, all in ELF. 5.2.x libc's. Worked
fine on 1.2.10 but definitely screwy on 1.3.{13,14,15...}.
