Stack dump with 1.3.16

I just built kernel 1.3.16 (with gcc 2.7.0) and re-booted.
syslogd started and then crashed with the dump given below.
I rebuilt syslogd and klogd to see if it would make a
difference. It didn't - same dump exactly.
