VESA powerdown in the 1.3 kernels?

Has anyone else noticed that the VESA (or DPMS, whatever you wanna call
it ;-) monitor powerdown isn't working in the 1.3 kernels, though it
still works in 1.2.12?

I looked through vesa_blank.c in 1.2.12 and 1.3.15 to see if I could
figure out why it no longer works. I messed with the new version some,
but couldn't ever get it to work.

Is this something that others have noticed, and is anyone else working on
fixing it? I'm kinda stuck....
