Well, might be.
I have seen corrupted files two times with recent kernels. It were
probably bit flipping errors. The first time I assumed it was because of the
current heat here in Germany, the second time I rebooted immediately, started
lots of memory hungry X programs and did a kernel recompilation. No problem
at all. I'm not sure whether this is a software or a hardware related problem.
