Ok, sounds like process_mrelease() would be an acceptable compromise.

Sounds good. Will keep it as is then.

Yeah, I have tried that direction unsuccessfully before arriving at
this one. Hopefully it represents the right compromise which can
satisfy everyone's usecase.
