Yes. I put the BP manually and I did 'continue' after the break without
panic.

Yes, but only if the module X was not loaded.

I just tried the following pattern and I don't have the panic:

guest$ modprobe X
(gdb) lx-symbols
loading vmlinux
scanning for modules in /linux/build
loading @0xffffffffc0147000: X.ko
(gdb) c
Continuing.
guest$ rmmod X
guest$ modprobe X
refreshing all symbols to reload module 'X'
loading vmlinux
loading @0xffffffffc0147000: X.ko
