ok, I reproduced it with:

while true; do
    make randconfig
    CONFIG_SLAB=; CONFIG_SLOB=; CONFIG_SLUB=
    source .config
    if [ "${CONFIG_SLAB}${CONFIG_SLOB}${CONFIG_SLUB}" != "y" ]; then
        break
    fi
    sleep 1
done

I wonder what set the flags originally...
