For 2.6.35 tags, you need to use the 2.6.35.y repository:
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.35.y.git

More generally, or 2.6.x.y tags with x >= 11, use the 2.6.x.y tree.

Also noteworthy is the combined tree for 2.6.x.y updates:
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6-stable.git
