Still no match (and still hangs at reboot)...

Sorry - bear with me a bit here, it's my first time writing quirks for this :)
Try:
DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_VENDOR, "Intel Corporation"),
DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_NAME, "DP55KG"),

From dmidecode:

BIOS Information
Vendor: Intel Corp.

I assume you mean:

DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_VENDOR, "Intel Corp."),
DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_NAME, "DP55KG"),

Did not work.

Trying your revised suggestion below:

DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_VENDOR, "Intel Corporation"),
DMI_MATCH(DMI_BOARD_NAME, "DP55KG"),

Up to build #13 now, trying a reboot, but does not look good...

$ dmesg | grep -i series
$

$ uname -a
Linux p34.internal.lan 2.6.31.3 #13 SMP Thu Oct 15 19:23:31 EDT 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here goes..

Same, all methods fail, :(
