I've now applied the patch after it was mangled by outlook.

I have also fixed the following build error :-

CHK include/linux/compile.h
UPD include/linux/compile.h
CC init/version.o
LD init/built-in.o
LD .tmp_vmlinux1
`lp3971_i2c_remove' referenced in section `.data' of drivers/built-in.o: defined in discarded section `.devexit.text' of drivers/built-in.o
