ah, ok. I build cross-compilers from scratch, so i have 4.3.3-pre:

phoenix:~/linux/linux> /opt/crossgcc/cross/bin/alpha-linux-gcc -v
[...]
gcc version 4.3.3 20081123 (prerelease) (GCC)
