No, 2.6.26-rc1 with hpet=disable now stops at

ata_piix 0000:00:1f.2: MAP [ P0 P2 IDE IDE ]

However, with idle=mwait as suggested by Venkatesh Pallipadi it did
boot in 2 out of 2 attempts.
