Failed to load modules : loop

Hi folks,

Linux-2.6.11.12

On mounting;

# mount -o loop xxx.sqfs /mnt/point
OR
# mount -t squashfs -o loop xxx.sqfs /mnt/point

it prompted;
Failed to load modules : loop

However loop has been enbled as module.

Please advise where shall I check. TIA
