Successful build of 2.6.10 after IDE boot problem.

For anyone who is interested, my IDE boot problem was solved after I reconfigured the 2.6.10 kernel sources using my old /proc/config.gz from 2.6.9. [Thanks a million to whoever thought of that feature, as I had already done rm -rf /linux-2.6.9-sources so I had no other copy of
my config file.

I'm not sure why the generic kernel sources to 2.6.10 would not boot
initially. I verified that IDE/ATA support was in the kernel. Evidently
something had changed re: the order in which modules are loaded.
For anyone who is interested, here is my dmesg from my first successful boot of 2.6.10:
