2.6.3-rc3 IO-APIC badness (IRQ xx: nobody cared!)

Greetings,
motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7NNXP, nforce2 chipset.
system ran ok, but with shared interrupts with just APIC selected, and without
APIC selected.
decided to get bold and daring and compiled with IO-APIC to get rid of the
many problems im having with IRQ sharing (stuff isnt working properly due to
it, they dont want to share...)
but...due to the IRQ's being disabled I lose usb, ect.
otherwise the system seemed to function properly.
