Which seems to invert some logic -- from the patch:

-                       return setup_pdc4030(hwif);
+                       if (!setup_pdc4030(hwif))
+                               return -ENODEV;
+                       return 0;

(I cannot find any changes to setup_pdc4030() in that changeset)
