test5-mm2 and test5: problems with interrupts and PM in VIA Chipset

From: Pau Aliagas
Date: Tue Sep 16 2003 - 02:07:32 EST

I have an Acer laptop that has lots of problems just trying to boot
normally. In all kernels since test3 I have to add several options to lore
or less be able to work: pci=noacpi pci=usepirqmask pci=biosirq

My last try has been test5-mm2 as I also need to suspend the laptop usin
acpi and I have not been able to do so yet.

The most "appealing" messages are the following ones, using the boot
parametres:
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 0 of device 0000:00:0a.0
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin D of device 0000:00:10.3.
drivers/usb/core/hcd-pci.c: Found HC with no IRQ. Check BIOS/PCI 0000:00:10.3 setup!
drivers/usb/core/hcd-pci.c: Found HC with no IRQ. Check BIOS/PCI 0000:00:10.1 setup!
MCE: The hardware reports a non fatal, correctable incident occurred on CPU 0. Bank 0: e665800000000185

When booting without parametres, the ethernet does not work (via-rhine)
and the messages are different:
ACPI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 0000:00:11.1
PCI: Using ACPI for IRQ routing
PCI: if you experience problems, try using option 'pci=noacpi' or even 'acpi=off'
PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 0 of device 0000:00:0a.0
PCI: Via IRQ fixup for 0000:00:10.0, from 11 to 10
PCI: Via IRQ fixup for 0000:00:10.1, from 255 to 10
ACPI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 0000:00:11.1
irq 11: nobody cared!
Call Trace:

NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out

I attach the lspci -vv, /proc/interrupts amd dmesg for the case of bootgin
without parametres that I think should be addressed first. I'll do any
tests needed to fix these problems.
