'rmmod ipip' kills box

Hi,

kernel 2.4.18 UP, compiled for 4GB highmem but not used, K6 CPU
insmod version 2.4.12
rmmod ipip killed the box dead. No further info, somebody had to press
the reset button. Down time on this box is awkward.
