Hello,
I'm a bit new to Linux kernel compiling, but I've been doing Sun Solaris
Admin work for many years. I have a Sun Ultra 5 400mhz running SuSe Linux
7.3 for Sparc. Everything runs great, except it does not come with a
precompiled version of the Interphase 5526 Fibre Channel module. So I
figured I'd download the 2.4.16 kernel, enable the module and recompile
the kernel. I've compiled kernels on x86 machines many times typically
with no problems, or at least problems I could fix.
I've:
1. Extracted the new kernel
2. make mrproper
3. make menuconfig
4. enabled the Interphase Module
5. make dep
6. make clean
7. make vmlinux
8. make modules
9. make modules_install
When doing #9, I get this error:
