Bug Report

1. System crashes when switching from console (frame buffer using VESA) to X session.
2. When I change to X from the console and back, after a few changes (around 3) it'll either crash the entire system (ala Windows), requiring a cold boot, or screw up the video but allow me to reboot. I have the Magic SysRq key on, and when there's a full crash even that won't work. I'm using the frame buffer with the VESA card at 1024x768x64k. This problem started after the 2.4.9 patched (including Alan's patches). The plain original 2.4.9 worked just fine.
3. kernel, video, frame buffer, X, VESA, crash, lock
4. Linux 2.4.13-ac8
5. No oops. Just plain crashing.
6. Just keep switching to and fro the console to X and it'll crash.
