I also tried CONFIG_SMP=y and
CONFIG_X86_UP_APIC=y + CONFIG_X86_UP_IOAPIC=n,
but that didn't make any difference.

Even nmi_watchdog doesn't work anymore.

I thought my dmesg might be useful so I attached it.
