Does the scheduler run every time jiffies is incremented?

I'm reading Rubini's "Linux Device Drivers" and it isn't clear to me
whether the scheduler runs every time the timer interrupt increments
jiffies or less frequently.

Does the scheduler run every time jiffies is incremented?
