I think it would help to have a well documented "module writers kit".
(Maybe there is one and I'm not aware of it).

"CONFIG_BAR - 0" works when $CONFIG_BAR might expand to either "" or "1".
But that's not what happens in 2.4.0 and it's not what happens under Al
Viro's proposal.
