PPP problem with modules

If I build 2.4.0-test3 with modules and try to make a connection I get
"modprobe: Can't locate module tty-ldisc-3 " /var/log/messages.

pppd[1109]: pppd 2.3.11 started by ppp-dfpc, uid 1002
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module tty-ldisc-3
pppd[1109]: ioctl(TIOCSETD): Invalid argument(22)

If I build without modules, PPP works fine. I have insmod
version2.3.10-pre1 installed.

I just started with PPP, so if this isn't really a problem sorry in
advance for wasting bandwidth.
